Kasey Wen Elam Richmond Death Obituary: Cherish Resident Has Died
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Kasey Wen Elam, 34, of Richmond Dale, who passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday evening, March 11, 2026. Kasey was born on June 3, 1991, in Portsmouth, Ohio, to Shawn Elam and Patricia Kneisley. He was a devoted husband to Savannah (Ford) Elam, and together they had two beautiful children, Kimber and Maverick, who were the absolute center of his world.
Kasey is survived by his stepmother, Amy Elam; stepfather, John Bechie Jr.; siblings: Kristin (Keith Johnson) Clark, Shanna (Jacob) Rothe, and Cameron (fiancée Madaline) Holley; step-siblings: Loriann (Issac) Kennedy, Mary Bechie, Clair (Daniel) Glenn, Carl (Ashley) Bechie, Angela Bechie, and Jordyn Weppler; two grandmothers: Sharon Elam and Wanda Kuhner; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers: Larry Elam and Harold Kneisley, and his Aunt Nay.
A proud graduate of Zane Trace High School, Kasey completed his education in 2009 and later pursued his passion for public service by attending the Ohio Police Training Academy in 2012, where he earned his certification as a Peace Officer. He dedicated his life to serving his community, working in law enforcement across various Ohio towns, including Chillicothe, Wellston, Waverly, and most recently, Piketon. Kasey’s devotion to public safety extended beyond law enforcement, as he also served with the Scioto Township Fire and EMS, always eager to help others in times of need.
In addition to his service to the community, Kasey was a proud member of the Richmond Dale Church of Christ and valued the time he could spend attending services. When he wasn’t working or spending time with his loved ones, Kasey enjoyed outdoor activities like fishing and mushroom hunting. He also had a deep love for music, video games, and was actively involved in the Save a Warrior project, a cause dedicated to helping veterans and first responders.
Kasey was known for his kindness, dedication, and unwavering commitment to the well-being of others. He had a strong sense of duty and was always willing to go the extra mile for those around him, whether it was his family, friends, or those he served through his profession.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at the Haller Funeral Home with Pastor John Evans and Pastor Dennis Ray officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, next to his beloved grandfather and Aunt Nay. Friends and family are invited to attend the visitation from 11:00 am until the time of the service.
