The Gainesville, Florida community is mourning the tragic loss of Dakota Cole, 23, who died following a motorcycle crash early Wednesday morning, March 11, 2026, along Southwest Archer Road.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, troopers and deputies with the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office responded shortly after 2:30 a.m. to the 5600 block of Southwest Archer Road, near Southwest 56th Terrace. Investigators say Cole was traveling westbound in the left lane when he lost control of his motorcycle. He was thrown from the vehicle and subsequently collided with a westbound tanker truck driven by a 44-year-old man. Emergency responders arrived quickly but sadly pronounced Cole dead at the scene.
Authorities temporarily closed the westbound lanes of Southwest Archer Road as crews worked at the scene and conducted their preliminary investigation. The roadway has since reopened while troopers continue examining the circumstances that led to the crash.
Cole’s sudden passing has left family members, friends, and the wider Gainesville community heartbroken.
