Charles “Charlie” Dyer Raynham, MA Death: Beloved Resident Has Died
Charles “Charlie” Dyer of Raynham, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully at Morton Hospital on Wednesday, March 11, 2026. He was the beloved only son of the late Elmer Wilson Dyer and Phyllis Elsie Simmons (Morris) of Taunton, Massachusetts. Charlie was married to the love of his life, Judith Elaine Dyer, for 56 years, until her passing in 2020.
Charlie graduated from Taunton High School in 1961, and after high school, he began a lifelong career in the oil and gas industry. Over the years, he became a well-known and respected figure in Raynham, Taunton, and the surrounding areas. In 1980, Charlie founded Dyer Oil Company, which grew into a trusted provider of heating oil and technical services for the region. His work ethic, integrity, and personal connections with customers made him a beloved member of the community he proudly served.
Beyond his professional achievements, Charlie was deeply committed to helping others. He dedicated countless hours to youth baseball programs, offering encouragement and mentoring to hundreds of children over the years. His passion for the game and his love for coaching left a lasting impact on generations of young players.
Charlie’s personality was larger than life, and he had a gift for storytelling. Known for his humorous and unforgettable “Charlie stories,” he could light up any room with his presence. Growing up in Taunton, Charlie developed a lifelong love for fixing and racing cars, a passion that stayed with him until his final days. He was also an avid fan of baseball and auto racing, enjoying the excitement of the games and the thrill of placing the occasional bet.
Above all, Charlie cherished his family and friends. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, whose warmth, generosity, and infectious spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Charlie is survived by his sons, Shawn Dyer and his wife Kristen, and Jason Dyer and his wife Joan, both of Raynham. He was the proud grandfather of Caiden, Chloe, Mia, and Sydney Dyer, and also leaves behind his step-grandchildren Curtis, Cory, and Craig Belanger, along with many extended family members and dear friends who loved him dearly.
