Carson David Young Matewan, WV Death: Cherish Resident Has Died

It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Carson David Young, a sweet and loving infant, who departed this life on March 9, 2026, at the tender age of 2 ½ months. Carson was born on December 23, 2025, in Pikeville, KY, to his devoted parents, Malinda Gibson and Chris Young.

Though his time with us was far too short, Carson’s presence filled every room with love and joy. His infectious smile could light up any space, and he had an innate ability to bring warmth and happiness to all those around him. Carson loved to watch shows like Cars, Mickey Mouse, and Bluey, always surrounded by his family, who adored him deeply.

Carson’s life, though brief, was filled with love. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Janet Fisher, Eddie Roden, and Sheena Gibson, and his cousin, E.J. Runyon.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving parents, Malinda Gibson and Chris Young, of Matewan, WV; his grandparents: Troy Lester, Stella Gibson of Newtown, and Michaela and David Maynard of Red Jacket. He also leaves behind a host of aunts and uncles: Roxanna and Josh Bryant of Chattaroy, Tessa and Jake Gibson of Newtown, Kenzie and Linzie Prince of Red Jacket; great aunts: Teresa and Tammy Hatfield of Delbarton; and cousins: Luca Gibson of Newtown, Tab and Kenny Files of Whitman, among many other loving relatives and friends.

The family will gather for a visitation on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM in the chapel of Mounts Funeral Home, with the funeral service beginning at 1:00 PM, officiated by Pastor Rick Endicott. Burial will follow at Maynard Cemetery in Red Jacket, WV. David Maynard and Jake Gibson will carry Carson to his resting place.

Though Carson’s time on this earth was short, his impact was profound. He was deeply loved, and his memory will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew him. Carson’s family takes comfort in knowing that his spirit will live on through their memories and the love they continue to share.
