Ashley Elizabeth Kittelson Duluth, MN Death: Cherish Resident Has Died

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ashley Elizabeth (Anderson) Kittelson, 35, of International Falls, who passed away on Friday, March 6, 2026. Ashley was born on July 21, 1990, to Dennis and Susan (Fortman) Anderson in Duluth, MN, and grew up in Britt, MN. She was a proud 2008 graduate of Virginia High School and had been working at Littlefork Care Center as a nurse, where she continued to touch lives with her caring heart and dedication.

Ashley was a devoted mother to her three young children—Lily, JJ, and Derekwho were the absolute center of her world. Everything she did was for them, and her love for them was apparent in the smallest details of her life. She was always prepared, always putting their needs first, from snacks to toys to making sure everything was organized so that her children felt safe, secure, and loved. Being a mother was her greatest joy, and she worked tirelessly to provide a life for her children filled with love, stability, and opportunity.

Those who knew Ashley will always remember her as a thoughtful, kind, and gentle person. Her warmth and compassion made those around her feel comfortable and loved. She had a beautiful soul, and her heart was one of the kindest and purest. Ashley showed her love through small, meaningful gestures—quiet acts of kindness, thoughtful gifts, and the care she gave to her family, friends, and patients. Her generosity and love for others will never be forgotten, and her spirit will live on through all those she touched.

Ashley was preceded in death by her mother, Susan Anderson, brothers: Darrick Anderson, Joel Anderson, and Brett Anderson, maternal grandparents: Virginia and Clifford Fortman, paternal grandparents: Mildred and Venner Anderson, and aunt, Mitzi Fortman.

She is survived by her beloved children, Lillian Bannert, Jacob Bannert, and Derek Kittelson; stepdaughters: Tori and Lily Kittelson; her father, Dennis Anderson of Britt; her brother, Kyle (Ann) Anderson of Duluth; her sisters, Kelly (Robert) Olson of Albertville, and Stephanie (Dusty) Hannahs of Mt. Iron; nephews: Tyler Olson, Brennen Anderson, Gavin Olson, Jack Anderson, Dusty Hannahs Jr., Cole Olson, Westly Hannahs, and Castin Hannahs; nieces: Crystal Anderson, Ella Olson, Madelyn Olson, and Emma Anderson; aunts: Ginny Hatton of Florida, and Lynda (Kevin) Fahey of Gilbert; along with many cousins and countless dear friends.

While Ashley’s time with us was far too short, her love, kindness, and beautiful spirit will continue to live on through her children and in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.

In honoring Ashley’s memory, the family asks that you consider supporting organizations that assist individuals experiencing domestic violence. No public service will be planned at this time, but the family appreciates your love and support during this difficult time.
